‘Berber Doors’ Workshop by the Artist Khalid Assallami

The main aim of the workshop is to showcase the richness of the traditional Amazigh craft and culture (Berber), a culture with a strong spiritual component and very much bound to earth and history. The workshop will be held on 31 May and 1 June, 2016, at the Andalusian Library and is part of the International Chair of Amazigh Culture.

A Workshop organised by the Euro-Arab Foundation, the Andalusian Library-Provincial Library of Granada and the Multicultural Libraries in Andalusia.

Natural materials, such as iron, wood, pigments, etc., will be used during the workshop in order to capture and discover ancestral geometric shapes proper of the Amazigh craftsmanship.

The workshop will be imparted by the artist Khalid Assallami (Agadir, Morocco) who belongs to the family Mourabih, who, by turn, are well-known in the world of painting and theatre and totally devoted to cinema.

The workshop is a complementary activity to the exhibition of the same artist, IGUMDAN-Renaissance of a Shared Myth, which will be inaugurated at the Library Biblioteca de Andalucía next Thursday, 19 May, 2016.

The workshop will take place on 31 May and 1 June, 2016, from 18h00 to 20h00, with the following program:

Tuesday 31: layout and engravings

Wednesday 1: wood painting

In order to participate in the workshop, you need to:
  • Be in possession of the user card of the Andalusian Public Libraries Network.
